Community Bike and Safety Event
On Saturday, April 5, 2014, Cartwright School District and the City of Phoenix hosted a Community Bike and Safety Event and Pancake Breakfast at Peña Elementary School. Over 200 free bike helmets were given away. Additionally, one lucky student won a brand new bike. Thank you to Councilman Michael Nowakowski and his staff for hosting the event, Don Cross of the City of Phoenix, the Phoenix Police Department, and the Phoenix Fire Department for making this a fun event for children. The Phoenix Fire Department did car seat safety checks. Also, the Police and Fire departments held a bike rodeo and bike races for the kids. Additional physical activities were conducted by P.E. teachers from Estrella. We also had hands-on activities for students that were enjoyed by all. Thanks also to Peralta cheerleaders and chorus for the entertainment. A special thanks to Peña for hosting the event and also to the following schools and their staff for participation - Peralta, Tomahawk, Starlight Park, Estrella Middle School, and Castro Middle School. We hope you enjoy the slideshow of the event.
